First Look: Victoria, Victoria Beckham hits Harvey Nichols and is already selling out

It's here, Victoria, Victoria Beckham (very James Bond) VB's new sister line has landed in Harvey Nichols and selling out, fast. The line features more lightweight and less structured pieces that we are used to but is a cut price collection - don't get too excited though, dresses begin at about £400.

I do actually like the collection, however for what essentially is a diffusion line(despite Victoria Beckham's claims it is a sister line, not diffusion - probably to justify the price tags) the prices are a little steep for what's actually on offer.

Victoria showcased the collection yesterday exclusively in Harvey Nick's window alongside a promotional video made by Quentin Jones. I haven't seen the full video yet but see the teaser video here.

First Look: Alexa Chung Covers Elle UK, March 2012

It's no secret that I love Alexa Chung, so I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear I was happy to see her grace the cover Elle UK, for the third time. It seems however the rest of the Internet were not. The March Subscribers Edition of Elle UK is getting a lot of stick for Alexa's 'boring' cover however I actually quite like it. I do prefer the Subscribers Issue to the Newsstand Copy however, but that usually is the case with Elle.

I really like the pastel S/S12 Louis Vuitton she is wearing on the subscribers issue and contrasted against the blue couch I think it really works.

The shots inside make for a great editorial piece too.

Jenny Packham to launch Collection at Debenhams

Jenny Packham has jumped on the Debenhams train, designing a cut price collection for the high street giant. Packham follows in the footsteps of Julian McDonald, Henry Holland, Roksanda Ilincic and Matthew Williamson who too have ranges sold exclusively to Debenhams.

Her stunning dresses and attention to detail has seen her not only become a favourite at NYFW, but also among celebrities including Kate Beckinsale, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The collection which will feature womenswear, accessories and childrens-wear is due to launch in Spring 2012. Stay tuned for a first look at on of the most exciting collaborations this year.

Anyway, my first installment of my new section, 'Dressing For' is due to the ever-changing weather we get right about now...mid-season. Everyone is eager to start wearing their favourite S/S12 clothes, but no-one is really sure if it will be sunny, rainy, windy? So here is my outfit choice for the UK's changeable weather mid A/W11 & S/S12 - yes I have featured the Acne cable knit jumper again. I am not over it.

Move over Alexa Chung, there's a new girl in town (not the same town, but, well you know where I'm going) Yes, Rihanna is set to co-produce and star in a new talent show alongside Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts, seeking to find Britain's best design talent. Rihanna who has already shown her design talents off for her collection with Armani and Nicola who has a successful cosmetics line, Dainty Doll are aiming to recruit one lucky winner to design Rihanna's stage outfit for her Wireless Performance this Summer.

The show will run in Summer on Sky Living over the course of ten weeks, with each week seeing Rihanna and Nicola challenging the contestants to create outfits for celebrities and musicians.

Net-a-Porter's Karl Launch at Covent Garden

Today marked the official launch of the eagerly anticipated Karl Collection by Karl Lagerfeld. By now I'm sure you've seen the collection, but if not have a browse here.

Here are my top picks

Anyone with a twitter account and access to the internet was probably aware that Net-a-Porter were hosting exclusive pop-up launches in Cities around the world, including London to celebrate the launch. I popped along to Covent Garden this afternoon to see what was going on - and even managed to bag myself a Collar from the Collection!

It was total mayhem, there were hundreds of people waiting to see what was behind the Karl curtains. When the curtains were dropped, the crowd were greeted with an interactive window - basically images of the collection which you then scan with your iPhone/iPad to shop instantly, quite a good idea if you don't get caught in the stampede. The afternoon was really pleasant though with Karl Coffee been handed out to the waiting crowds (some who had stood there for 3 hours!) by the lovely Net-a-Porter team.

Paris Haute Couture: Chanel Spring/Summer 2012

Karl Lagerfeld, the words on everyone's lips right now. Not only is there non-stop blogging/tweeting/talking/ of his new line 'Karl' launching tomorrow on net-a-porter (so excited!) but this morning he hosted the Chanel Couture Show in Paris.

The setting for this morning's event, non other than a static jumbo jet complete with passenger seats, drinks trolley and of course, air hostesses.

The ~~air hostesses~~ models wore a mixture of gowns and dresses in hues of pastel blues and grays complete with sequin & sparkle embellishments and statement pockets. As always another winner from King Karl.

Vogue to host first ever Festival this Spring

Well now you can find out as they are opening their doors for the world to see with the launch of their first ever festival...this Spring. Mix with the industry's top photographers, designers, writers and models for two days of live music, debates, performances, films, makeovers, workshops and 'much much more.'

British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said: "I am tremendously excited about putting together this Vogue Festival, which will be the first of its kind to allow the general public to see and hear the world's greatest fashion talent speaking - as well as to engage in many interesting issues that fashion and style raise"

The event will take place on 20-21st April 2012 at the The Royal Geographical Society, London.

Paris Haute Couture: Versace Atelier Spring/Summer 2012

Kicking of Couture Fashion Week in Paris today was no other than the return Atelier Versace. Since it was their first show since 2004 I was expecting something spectacular. And that's what I got. The looks came in an array of golds, bolds and brights down a set of gold mirrored stairs to show the collection to the like of Anna Wintour and Red Carpet favourites Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger and Abbie Cornish.

If Versace Couture are known for anything, then its what they do on the Red Carpet and this morning was no different. Bright colours, sequins, slits and embellishments screamed out next month's Oscars, wonder which dresses we'll see at everyone's favourite awards event, my money's on these...

For anyone that has/is/will tell me that they don't understand why Lara Stone is a model 'because she just doesn't look like one...' well here is proof that she is...and does. Lara is back with Calvin Klein Collection for their S/S12 Campaign Ad and, well It pretty much speak for itself right?

On a lighter note, the CK Jeans S/S12 campaign is out and it looks amazing. I love the neon bright jeans, I cannot wait to get my hands on a pair, chances are though I probably won't look like that...

Carrie Bradshaw to return to our screens in SATC Prequel

That's right, Carrie Bradshaw is returning to our screens (computer screens to anyone outside of the US) But she's back. The Carrie Diaries, based on the SATC Prequel by Candace Bushnell has been adapted and given the go-ahead airing on the American network CW. The show will follow Carrie as she moves to New York to start her big adventure...get it?!

When the show was set to be made into a movie a whole host of American teens were rumoured to be involved including Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Elizabeth Olsen, but now it's only small screen there isn't much chance of that happening...I knew those rumours were too good to be true.

So the question is, who will play a young Carrie in the new series? And ~~will it~~ can it ever be as good as the original Sex and the City?

Alice Dellal: New Face of Marc by Marc Jacobs

Just weeks after she was unveiled as Karl's latest muse for the Chanel Boy Bag, Alice Dellal has gone and bagged herself (pardon the pun) another ad campaign...and this time its Marc Jacobs.

A change from the innocence Elle Fanning brought to the the previous Marc by Marc Jacobs ad's (below) Alice's grunge-y look, works really well contrasted with the girly aesthetic of the S/S12 collection, shot by no other than Juergen Teller.

Alberta Ferretti Double Show in Milan

Alberta Ferretti added a little femininity to Milan this week by showcasing a double show featuring both it's Pre-Fall Collection and Demi-Couture Line. Apparently it's the first time a full womenswear collection has been shown in Milan, excluding the regular fashion weeks.

The brand new line was created with well-dressed celebrities and 'it' girls in mind, and what better way of broadcasting that than by having your 'muses' model the collection. Solange Knowles, Tali Lennox, Florence Brudenell-Bruce, Mary Charteris and Amber Le Bon where amongst the 'celebs' and socialites who appeared.

With another remake of The Great Gatsby set for release (this one does have Leonardo DiCaprio in it though) the inspiration was clear and very apt. Twenties silhouettes, cloche hats and flapper dresses were all present in the Pre-Fall opening of the show. I'm not sure if it's all the 'Great Gatsby-ness' going around at the moment but personally it just wasn't for me.

The show soon evolved into the Demi-Couture Line, shades of silver and gold, metallics and furs were dominant throughout. Style.com said: "You could feel Ferretti's heart in these clothes" and you really could. The detailing and delicacy of the dresses is gorgeous, something you could totally imagine on the Red Carpet.

First Look: Topshop Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Yesterday's blog post on my favourite S/S12 campaigns got me so excited for the upcoming seasons so you can imagine my excitement when I saw Topshop's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection - just as pretty and I can actually afford this one.

The collection features tons of yellow shades, heavy floral eastern prints and a strong 90's theme. I really like it, however a lot of the shots were taken in black and white which I didn't really like as it really is all about colour this season. Click here to see the full collection.

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Worst Dressed

Part Two of my Golden Globes Coverage and this time it's the ones who got it wrong. Here are my pick of last night's Worst Dressed

Lea Michele was very nearly there with this Marchesa gown but there is something just not right, seeing her top of most of the worst dressed lists from last night.

The hair, the mermaid tail, the shoulders, the creases...I could go on. Kelly is usually one of my favourite dressed celebs on the Red Carpet but this Zac Posen choice just doesn't work.

I'm so disappointed Natalie Portman didn't impress last night, I had my hopes on her returning to the Red Carpet in something amazing, but this Lanvin dress is a funny cut and just drowns her tiny frame.

I actually love this Theyskens' Theory dress, but there is something about Piper Perabo that makes it not right for her...can't quite put my finger on it

This Vera Wang dress could look gorgeous on the Red Carpet, but on Naya Rivera it looks like it's a it small...and creased.

Sarah-Michelle Gellar picked the wrong choice with this Monique Lhuillier dress. As much as I love tie dye, its just too much here, especially with all the ruffles/layers...probably my worst of the night.

I love Amanda Peet and thought she would take full advantage of the Golden Globes and nail it. But this Marc Jacobs frilly creation would look way better if it weren't on the Red Carpet.

Reality TV Star (The Hills/The City) turned Fashion Designer Whitney Port is set to show her Fall 2012 Collection at New York Fashion Week next month. I am a big fan of her line, Whitney Eve, which is kind of casual, easy to wear pieces and so am quite excited at what she will show us at NYFW.

Whitney posted the news on her blog saying "I cannot wait to unveil everything that I have been pouring my heart and soul into for the last 6 months. It is such an honor to be showing my line with the same people that I look upto for so much inspiration and motivation. Thank god for People's Revolution and the whole team there for making this happen, I honestly don't know how I could pull this off without you!"

S/S12 Pastel Trend

Yesterday I bagged myself the cutest Jaeger pastel shirt, which got me thinking about the upcoming S/S season. I really haven't been thinking, let alone buying for Spring/Summer yet but when I saw this shirt I had to have it. The pastel trend is probably my favourite of S/S12, closely followed by tribal prints and sports luxe, so I started shopping around to find some pieces to get me through the next few months (basically on-trend pieces that will keep me warm enough until the sun actually appears) I noticed too that I only really feature high sreet brands and only rarely do I include designer brands in shopping pieces, I had a bit of a re-vamp this week so figured there was no better time to start...

Mila Kunis is new face of Dior

Actress of the moment Mila Kunis has been named the new face of Dior appearing in Miss Dior handbags for Spring/Summer 2012. Kunis follows in a line of A-List celebs who also front the brand including Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard.

Despite Mila's weird lips in the second image, I really like the campaign and can't wait to see what Dior creations she will be wearing on the red carpet this awards season.

Lana Del Ray, Latest Name to hit NEXT Model Management

Looks like the Lana Del Ray mock-up Prada ad was a sign of things to come, after all that talk of her impressive 'campaign' she is now the latest in a string of musicians to be signed by agency NEXT Model Management (others include Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and new face of Chanel Boy Bag, Alice Dellal)

Despite knowing deep down that the Prada ad was a fake, I was praying that it was for real as I fell in love with it and after Christopher Kane and Emilio de la Morena chose her hit 'Video Games' for their S/S12 shows I was adamant it had to be true...but it wasn't! So here's hoping she does us proud with NEXT and gives us an amazing campaign, my money is on Mulberry or Moschino.

But aside from the fact that I am terribly poor, the reason for my lack of spending is also because I am less then impressed with what's on offer (on the High Street) Anyway, determined not to give in, I had a browse online and found a few things that I might have to invest in on payday! Versace Cruise Collection for H&M Revealed

You may (or may not) remember a few weeks back when I blogged about H&M's exciting new line with Marni (read it here) In the post I mentioned about Versace creating a pre-spring line due to hit stores and online in the New Year...well now the Cruise Collection has been revealed and to be honest I'm less than impressed! There are a few OK pieces but nothing that stands out, and certainly nothing as impressive as their main line with H&M.

The line goes on sale on January 19th, here's a little look...

I particularly like the printed shirt, cropped jacket and ballet pump, but everything else is just a little underwhelming for me!

New Years Eve...Minus the Sequins

All I've been thinking about lately is what I am going to buy (and get) for Christmas and got so wrapped up (pardon the pun) in it all that New Years Eve totally slipped my mind! I'm pretty excited about it this year as a few of friends are coming to London to see in the New Year so I need to find a brand new festive frock. Sneak Preview of KARL Collection

You might remember back in October when I very excitedly blogged about Karl Lagerfeld's new line 'KARL' (Read it here) Well girls get out your diaries as on the 25th of January the line will be launching on net-a-porter. Earlier this week ELLE released a little preview of the new (affordable - YAY!) line which to be honest doesn't give too much away, it's mainly blacks, whites and silvers with strong hints of androgyny.

Interns to get paid...yay or nay?

News broke last week that HM Revenue and Customs are cracking down on the issue of unpaid fashion interns, threatening over 100 London Fashion Week designers with prosecution if their interns are not paid the minimum hourly rate of £6.08.

Now when I first read this it was music to my ears having spent many unpaid hours trawling around London for some internship or other, but after my initial reaction wore off, I was left wondering how positive actually is this crackdown? Obviously fashion students and graduates will be happier (and richer) and big houses and names will lose money, but where do the small fashion houses and publications fit in? Speaking to Elle, Cozette McCreery, one of the three designers behind knitwear brand SIBLING said

"Internships are still seen as getting your foot in the door. So even though you might not be getting a regular wage, it's almost like you do the time, and then you make the most of your short time that's spent there, and in the end, quite often, what happens is the company really wants you to stay and takes measures to actually keep you."

One of my lecturers once told me 'you work in fashion for love, not money' and that essentially has become my motto when working at any internship, if you want it enough you'll do it for free. It's a difficult debate and only time will tell what will happen to the structure of the fashion business and the masses of unpaid interns.

I saw these t-shirts on Gem Fatale's blog the other day and just had to do a post about them. They are from French store Colette and are made by a brand called Le Musique. As you can see from the picture each tee has a song titled printed in French on it! They are so cute, easy to throw on and at only 40 Euros they would make a great Christmas present for yourself or a loved one...With so many to choose from, I can't decide which one ~~I would get~~ most-likely, probably Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick in the Wall'...which song title would you pick?

Sneak Peek at Alexa Chung's New Show

Yes, she's back! People.com released a 'sneak peek' trailer for Alexa Chung's new show '24 Hour Runway' last week promising a little bit of reality TV excitement for the New Year. The show which will air in the US on January 10th is essentially four wannabe designers fighting against each other to win the prize of $10,000. Different to Project Runway however, each episode sees the four whittled down to two, those two then go head-to-head in the final challenge, creating a full collection in 24 hours.

In all honesty the trailer makes the show seem slightly annoying (contestants more so than anything else) but the likely-hood is that I'll be searching the net desperately to find a source to watch it on, if only to stalk on Alexa's wardrobe (don't pretend you're not going to do the same!)

I'm pretty surprised we haven't seen her on there already but January's UK ELLE is graced with the face of Lady Gaga. ELLE have treated us this month, releasing two covers (not including the subscribers issue) both graced by Gaga, the red in gorgeous Alexander McQueen and the green in Simone Rocha. I still can't decide which my favourite is, but at a push I'd probably have to go with green Gaga.

H&M Collaborate with Marni

The Versace line has barely left the rails but H&M are not hanging around...they've already announced their new collection....Marni (I know, how exciting?!) The line which includes womenswear, menswear and accessories is set to hit stores and online on March 8th 2011 - just in time for my birthday, perfect!

Here's a little teaser video to get you (even more) excited for H&M's latest collaboration which looks set to include Marni's trademark prints, colour and statement pieces...

Now lets just hope the Tom Ford rumours are true!

British Fashion Awards 2011

The British Fashion Awards 2011 took place last night with deserved McQueen designer Sarah Burton winning the award for Designer of the Year. My fave's Stella McCartney and Mary Katrantzou came out smiling too with McCartney bagging the Red Carpet Award and Katrantzou walking away with the R-T-W Emerging Talent Award. The world's favourite Spice Girl (in this decade at least) Victoria Beckham beat Burberry, Stella McCartney and Tom Ford to the Designer Brand Award and of course Alexa Chung was awarded with the best British Style, for the second year running, and rightly so in my opinion! Other winners included Christopher Kane for the New Establishment Award, Sam Gainsbury for the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Sir Paul Smith for his Outstanding Achievement in Fashion.

With all the fash-pack congregated together, the red carpet was on fire...here's my best dressed of the night...

Simply Be-autiful

I went to the launch of the S/S'12 collection of Simply Be and Simply Yours the other day and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think I have ever even visited the clothing site and assumed the lingerie site was all plus size too, but when I arrived at the breakfast launch on Friday I was told different. Simply Yours is the sister company to Simply Be, selling underwear and swimwear, sized from a AA to an L cup. The fabrics and prints were gorgeous and affordable! Simple Be, the plus size clothing company have just opened 2 stores in the North and decided to have a launch to showcase their spring/summer collection. The clothes were perfect for S/S'12, they had clearly looked at the catwalk for inspiration. Despite not being the size of a Simply Be customer, there were a few things I spotted that I will definitely be buying and wearing as 'oversized' clothing.

We were treated to a yummy brekkie of canapés, juices', smoothies and lovely manicures by the lovely ladies at Nails Inc.

Been interning at Disorder Magazine for the past week or so and been mega busy with stuff for them, most importantly strutting round the office in these bad boys...

Unfortunately I had to take them back to their home, but got another fun fix from the launch of London's newest store, Sebago. They have recently opened 3 UK stores and London's is set right in the heart of Regent Street. Set over two nautical themed floors, Sebago is the best place to get your authentic nautical-inspired pieces...and they're handmade too. They even supplied us with fresh oysters, making it feel like we were really at sea...well almost!

Leandra Medine is the face behind blog The Man Repeller and my new latest girl crush! Since Olivia so badly let me down she had to be replaced, and this is her (much less uptight) replacement. Never did I think I would see the day when this title graced my blog! Yes you read it right, Olivia Palermo has let me down...for the first time...ever? (I even loved her in The City!) Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, I'm pretty sure you are aware of H&M's collaboration with Versace! The collection has received some mixed reviews and while I agree some of the pieces are a little too far for the high street, on the whole, I really like it! Here's a little look at some of my favourite pieces...

A mixture of iconic dresses, gold embellishment and classic Versace prints, anyone who loves Versace is bound to adore the collection. The designs hit selected stores on November 17th - I.CANNOT.WAIT!

I have to admit I was pretty excited to hear that Karl Lagerfeld is set to launch a mass-market women's fashion brand at Paris Couture Week in January. ‘It’s my today’s taste and style and a reflection of how I think a great number of people would like to be dressed now,’ Lagerfeld said of 'Karl' which will boast pieces from €60 to €300 and will go on sale on February 28th at the new karllagerfeld.com! Excited? Me too!!

I absolutely adore Dior's new Velvet Eyes product which lets even the most useless of eye-liner appliers (i.e. ME!) have the sultry 60's make up in seconds. The four looks stick straight onto the eyelid and are reusable...i'll never buy eye-liner again!

Cheat Sheet: Fetish

What is it? One of the biggest trends of the autumn/winter 11 season, the fetish trend includes anything your dirty mind can conjure up. Think leather, patent, rubber, cuffs, collars, latex and studs.

Who did it? Alexander McQueen, Giles, Emanuel Ungaro, Felder Felder, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

How to wear it? Don’t make a full outfit out of the trend, the key is to choose one staple item and work with that. Huge for any A/W season is the pencil skirt so opt for patent knee length version in black and team it with a fur shawl or coat in grey, navy or red to ensure you add class and avoid cheapening the outfit.

How far can you go? Not very, fetish is all about teasing so be sure not to give too much away with your outfit. A subtle piece of leather, rubber or sheer fabric is enough to guarantee you are bang on trend and you don’t look like you work in Stringfellow’s.

If you don’t want to stand out...Try a matte leather pencil skirt cut just below the knee, make sure the fabric is luxurious and team it with a sheer shirt with a black leather trim. If this is still too much a patent waist belt, trench coat or a pair of studded heels is a great way to cleverly add the huge trend to your A/W wardrobe.

A standing postition at Fashion Week is a huge slap in the face for any respectable 'fasionista' but check out this pictuure of Hamish Bowles, Anna Wintour, Grace Coddinton, and Salma Hayek up on their feet for the Balenciaga show in Paris yesterday,Want to know why? Because yesterday on the Rue Cassette in Paris not one, not two but the first three benches broke forcing all of the above plus many more including Mario Testino and Carine Roitefeld to stand and watch the show. Bumped bums and sore feet all round then.

Despite the shoddy furniture however, the futuristic collection,did not disappoint, here's a little look...

Fashion Week has hit London and is getting in full swing with shows starting yesterday. Most of the shows were quite good, Sass and Bide, Basso & Brooke and Jean-Pierre Braganza in particular. I was pretty disappointed with PPQ whose Dallas-inspired collection was more just trashy than trashy-cute. The soft, pastel shades used were really nice though and set the scene for what to expect next Spring/Summer. Here's a little look at my highlights from Day 1...
